Spring is a great time to be out looking for wildlife and watching it come to life after the winter. Here are some things to look for in spring.

• Snowdrops, bluebells and other woodland flowers start appearing
• ‘Mad’ March hares can be seen in the fields
• Blackthorn can be seen flowering in the hedgerows before the leaves appear
• Frogs and toads start spawning, you may see them crossing roads to get to their ponds. Do you know the difference?
• Bats start to come out of hibernation at dusk
• Song start birds singing, you may hear the ‘dawn chorus’
• Butterflies start emerging
• Orchids and other meadow flowers can be seen
• Butterflies, dragonflies and damselflies start to fly
• Cuckoos start to return from Africa, have you heard one?
• Adders and grass snakes start to emerge from hibernation, do you know the difference?
