It is with sadness that we learn of the death of Derek Reid who was Fungus Recorder for Bedfordshire for 47 years and for many years was Head of Mycology at Royal Botanic Gardens Kew. He died on 18th January.

Derek had an international reputation and published extensively, including describing many new species.
